This video clip shows in the clearest of terms why every law-abiding family in America ought to be armed to the hilt. http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/754.html%C2%A0%3E%3E

Why armed to the hilt? Are we being invaded? I am law abiding, but have never felt a need to own a gun or rifle.
Just because no one ever broke into your house with malicious intent does not mean no one ever will. Having a weapon handy might be a good idea in such a circumstance. Also, a good way to ensure that none of us ever need to defend ourselves against an invasion is for everyone to be armed and ready to. This is why President Washington considered owning a gun to be a mark of good citizenship. It seems that the people of Switzerland understand this even if many Americans do not.
Julie, 2 cats, and a 2 iron is all the defense I need. Anyway, I don't live in PA, so the chances of anyone breaking into my house are slight. :)
My safeguard for any invasion; DUCT TAPE!!!!
By the way, I would suggest you read up on overall Swiss gun rights, etc. and not just go by this video. You do know they are number 2 in the world per 100,000 in gun murders.
http://archives.cnn.com/2001/WORLD/europe/09/27/switzerland.shooting/
The article you referenced says, "Despite liberal Swiss gun laws, violent crime is rare and there are only minimal controls at public buildings." Also, I can find no evidence at all that Switzerland is number 2 in gun murders. All the stats I found showed it way down on the list, far below places like Columbia and Brasil.
So what's your source, Tom? You didn't make it up, did you?
Brian and Dave, I don't reply directly to assertions from "T" - nothing personal, just policy - but you might pass this along to him: As Ronaldus Magnus used to say: There he goes again, missing the fundamental point. One's safety and the safety of one's family is not - not - the top priority for overstressed police departments. There's always gonna be someone richer or better connected -or just closer to the station - who's going to merit the first response at 3 a.m. Defending yourself, your family, and your hard earned property is a fundamental - even foundational - natural right. The loss of that right is the loss of freedom.
Tom is willing to commit violence - with a golf club - but not to take the ultimate step to make sure that he and his family don't spend the rest of their lives looking over their shoulders. He chooses to make anaccommodation with terror, in other words, when the correct response to a home invasion is to put the guy down and make sure he never gets up again.
And on the subject: What's so morally superior about bashing a man's brains out with a two-iron? (Of course, if you're too stupid to manage a few simple but essential gun ownership protocols in the home, that's another story, in which case, the decision to resort to swinging a golf club at your wife's would-be rapist and your wanna-be killer is an admirably modest and honest one.)
I will admit a two iron may not be the right weapon, since the old adage is...not even God can hit a 2 iron. Anyway Bill, I will choose to live my life without a gun and not Have relentless worries and living in fear of some home invasion.
No, the saying is, "God can't hit a ONE iron."
I doubt he can hit a 2 iron either
Brian and Dave: T's self-styled, self-satisfied, and sanctimonious nobility -- "I choose to live my life without a gun" (because I'm a better, more evolved human being than you) - is a moral abdication of the most fundamental sort.
I'm not saying - and would not argue - that owning a gun one way or the other is a moral issue per se, but the idea of preparedness certainly is. There's a moral imperative for an adult American male to be prepared to do whatever it takes to defend his family, to recognize and be prepared to deal with the the very real possibility that home invasion does not always happen to the other guy. (And home invasion is only one of many scenarios in which gun ownership makes good common sense, of course.
T's attitude toward defending his home mirrors precisely the attitude of the gangsters running this country today.
An aside: to the extent T doesn't worry about home invasion, it's because most bad guys know that in America there's a very good chance their intended victim will be armed to the hilt. So T can thank his mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging neighbors - those with the American grit to exercise their second Amendment rights - for his relatively placid domestic situation.
better? more evolved? Why don't you put some words in my mouth. You are such a sanctimonious SOB at times, Bill. You don;t know me anymore than I know you. Nowhere have I ever said I am against the 2nd amendment, gun ownership, or anything close to that. I have never felt the need, the threat to own a gun. That's a far cry from me saying I am more evolved or better than anyone. If I lived in Alaska, damn right I would have a few guns, but I don't live there. I live in a quiet suburb 10 miles SW of Baltimore with a low crime rate. If I ddidn't know better I would think you good christian souls are just foaming at the mouth wanting to shoot somebody just to justify your gun ownership.
Tom, what makes you think Alaska is more dangerous than the suburbs of Baltimore? On what do base this? I think this is a laughable proposition.
Bears. You cannot go safely for a walk in Alaska because of bears. Not even in Fairbanks from which I am very familiar with.
So you guys think college students should be able to walk around campus armed?
I don't see why college students shouldn't be allowed to carry a gun. Don't they have a right to protect themselves just like everyone else? The Israeli society is armed to the hilt and it is very safe. At least the security guards on college campuses ought to be armed. Think of the lives that were saved at that church in Colorado (I think it was) where the security guard took down the would be shooter before he could kill who knows how many people.
Bears?! You mean you're going to shoot a poor bear when he crosses your path? A bear who is there naturally, and has as much right as you do to be there?
By all means college students should be armed. Look at the harm that could've been prevented at Virginia Tech. As things stand, only the homicidal nuts are armed. What kind of sense does that make?
Prevention at VA Tech is only a presumption. YOU will never know for sure.
What worries me about students being armed?
beer+pussy+guns= a bad mix
No, no, no: It is you "liberals" who never know anything for sure; but that doesn't stop you from perpetuating the same idiotic policies--like gun control--that you keep telling us might work some day.
AS I said, Bill, you can be such a sanctimonious ass.
We do not object to high passion, even virulence in our political contentions, but let's stop short of profanity/vulgarity.
Sorry about the profanity, but I do not think I have given any reason for you to think I oppose any of you 3 yahoos, rednecks, clingers, or Americans. When I got divorced all hate left me and has never returned. no gun back then and no gun now as that is what I choose.
Anyway, why waste my money on a gun when you guys just think Obama will just come and take them from us all.
