Are They Praying?

Is it me, or do those autos executives in the news photos look like they're praying? Praying before the mighty gods of Congress! Have mercy, oh Congressional gods!

This whole thing is sickening. These guys stupidly fly into DC in their Lear jets and get blasted for it (which they should have foreseen), so now they drive to the Capitol in their pathetic little hybrids. They are pandering in the most deplorable way. Their obsequious obeisance to Congress should disqualify everyone of them from being a CEO. I say, let them all go under (and I own GM stock, sad to say). Let the entire auto industry be reborn under completely new leadership. Let the UAW be utterly wiped off the face of the earth. Are they praying to Congress? Probably, since Congress is the new Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord-Who-Provides.

Companies come, companies go. They merge, go out of business, go into bankruptcy, are sold off. It's never the end of the world, not even for those who have been riding the gravy train for decades. There are other companies that make automobiles, and other companies can make tanks, if need be, companies that don't have the strangling labor and legacy costs that the Detroit auto makers have. Other companies that make parts would spring up like dandelions. All of the arguments in favor of the bailout are ridiculous.
