Has there ever been a man who so thoroughly repudiated his own race? Clearly Michael Jackson despised his blackness and did all that his millions could do to eliminate it. He whitened his skin, he altered his facial features, he straightened his hair, he obtained white children through a white woman (though he was not the actual father). Yet he is celebrated as a hero of the black race. Hard to figure why any black person would give him the time of day.

Why is Jacko a hero to blacks?
Has there ever been a man who so thoroughly repudiated his own race? Clearly Michael Jackson despised his blackness and did all that his millions could do to eliminate it. He whitened his skin, he altered his facial features, he straightened his hair, he obtained white children through a white woman (though he was not the actual father). Yet he is celebrated as a hero of the black race. Hard to figure why any black person would give him the time of day.
It's absolutely bizarre. Michael Jackson turned his life into a freak show. He was a very ill, disturbed person. Of course, instead of urging him to get help, his greedy family merely enabled him.

ReplyDeleteWas he incredibly talented? Yes. Did he have some great hits that I'll recognize and enjoy until I'm 80? Yes. But did he do anything really special for the world? Nope.
I just don't understand the idolatry of it all, quite frankly. Black or white or blue, Michael Jackson was, as Brian points out, a very disturbed man. Sad, but there you have it.
