Trump's replacement for Obamacare

From President Trump's State of the Union speech on February 28, 2017...

"So I am calling on all Democrats and Republicans in the Congress to work with us to save Americans from this imploding Obamacare disaster. Here are the principles that should guide the Congress as we move to create a better healthcare system for all Americans:
"First, we should ensure that Americans with pre-existing conditions have access to coverage, and that we have a stable transition for Americans currently enrolled in the healthcare exchanges.
"Secondly, we should help Americans purchase their own coverage, through the use of tax credits and expanded Health Savings Accounts –- but it must be the plan they want, not the plan forced on them by the Government.
"Thirdly, we should give our great State Governors the resources and flexibility they need with Medicaid to make sure no one is left out.
"Fourthly, we should implement legal reforms that protect patients and doctors from unnecessary costs that drive up the price of insurance – and work to bring down the artificially high price of drugs and bring them down immediately.
"Finally, the time has come to give Americans the freedom to purchase health insurance across State lines –- creating a truly competitive national marketplace that will bring cost way down and provide far better care.
"Everything that is broken in our country can be fixed.  Every problem can be solved.  And every hurting family can find healing, and hope."

I hope they keep the mental health requirement. I think our POTUS might need it rather soon.

What's proposed? What a joke.

you know selling across state lines is in the Obamacare law. I guess the states and or insurance companies have no interest in doing that. Matter of fact, the law allows nationwide insurance if that's what states and insurance companies want to try.

So it kind of seems that 4 of the 5 things Trump listed we already have, or could have. Wouldn't it just be easier to fix the flaws of Obamacare than do what the majority party is doing?

I find it kind of interesting that the republican talking point these days seems to be, having coverage is not the same as having care. If you can't find a doctor that takes your insurance what good does having a "card" do for you?
Two points on this. 1) There is nothing anyone can do and it sure is not in the ACHA legislation to force doctors to accept any and all insurance, and 2) sounds like a good advertisement for universal health care.

Maybe this is the republican party way of getting to universal/single payer healthcare.

I'm sure there are planty of Republicans that would be glad to have a universal single-payer healthcare system. That's one reason why I'm not a Republican. There are way too many who think just like Democrats. They haven't got the guts to wrestle the needle away from the junkie.

Their incompetence amazes me.
