Perhaps the sentiments contained in the following pages, are not YET sufficiently fashionable to procure them general favour; a long habit of not thinking a thing WRONG, gives it a superficial appearance of being RIGHT, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom. Canadian Premier Goes to Miami for Heart Surgery
Well, what do you know about that? I wonder why he didn't go to Great Britain?
I love it. What a great sense of timing. "It's my heart. It's my health. It's my choice.."
Williams' mild protestations about how the Canadian health care system is really fab . . . it's just, you see, that he needed something really special, so he turned to the US. Not that the typical everyday Canadian has special needs or requirements, you undertsand. For the normal run of the mill citizen, the nationalized health care system is wonderful. . . . blah, blah, blah.
Okay, one can grant that finding specialized surgical skills in Labrador and Newfoundland is asking too much of any health care system. But couldn't he have gone to McGill? Well, no. Draw your own conclusions.
